A Wee Bit About Us

Pull up a seat, this is a long introduction...and I tend to get off the beaten path a bit...

The Woodsy Witch is slightly new on the Internet...but we have been making a variety of bath products since 1997...starting off part time at home...between our full time employment outside the home, we just never really had a good grasp of working off the Internet...we dabbled so to speak...a little bit here and a little bit there...

I love making soaps...my first batch in 1997 was honey oatmeal and it was perfect...or so I thought...when that first whoomp sound was heard as I popped my soap out of it's mold and I took a whiff of that delicious oat and honey smell, running my fingers all over the grainy surface of my 6 lb batch, well, I knew then, I was in love with soap making for a lifetime...oh there were batches that didn't work, oh yeah... and there were oils that I used that I didn't care for...I tried bath salts, lotions, foot powders, massage oils, but my biggest love is making soaps...I kept coming back to that right off the bat...oh the delicious scents out there, the sweet herbs, flower petals, luscious oils, coming together to perform alchemy right before my very eyes...

My idea behind this process was that I felt I could make very good quality bath products for a reasonable price to others...no, it's not that packaged stuff that you get really cheap on the shelves from your local community store...you know what I am talking about?  It looks like it could be prettily packaged but then you take a good look at it, and it's severely wrapped and glued to the packaging...then you open it up and take a whiff, and again, you wrinkle your nose and think, this doesn't smell like garden rose, or lavender, or whatever scent you just purchased says it's supposed to be...you might be disappointed, but then you are thinking, well, at least I didn't pay too much for it...

Well, my products may not be as prettily wrapped as the stuff from China or wherever it came from...but, I promise you they will be hand crafted here in Texas with love, care, and a desire that the person who will be using it will know that it was made with them in mind...I attempt to pour my energies into each order individually...giving each one the care that I feel it deserves...this is not assembly line work, from a country really far away...

It is my desire that you will feel my attempts to offer personalized products with positive energies...every time I make a batch of soap, pour a massage oil, candle or whip up some bath salts, you will know that it was intended for you and your loved ones in mind...it is a very personal process...

Of course my web making skills are sorely lacking too...I have played with various looks, the names I wanted to have, and nothing really seemed exactly right until my husband came up with The Woodsy Witch...all the cool names I wanted were taken up by media domain takers, that is what I call them...you know the ones?  Where they buy up domain names so that when you are doing a search, their site pops up, and it is totally something unrelated?  Yeah, that one, because I had some really cool names picked, but they weren't even being used, just sitting there in space floating...

So my husband came up with the woodsy witch and I liked it a lot...and I set about doing my best to complete my pages, along with goodies to splash across the screen...now, keep in mind, these pages are very simple, easy to navigate and will not contain too many whistles, buttons and bows...my intentions are for it to be very easy to use, I am certainly not computer savvy and I am getting older...so I hope that anyone will be able to run through here without a care in the world...and hopefully I will be able to add neat stuff like other places to visit, recipes you can try safely at home that won't cost you a fortune to make...maybe a chat board eventually?  And just a few tidbits to read when you are truly bored....

I live on the outskirts of town, on 2.5 acres...it's a small place, but I do have a room dedicated to my craft...I was very disappointed that the city made me get rid of my 2 bedroom mobile home in the back, I was going to use it as a soap shop...but they insisted it had to go, it would have been perfect too but they were worried I would have others living there and this area being zoned single family, well, that wouldn't do... but all I wanted to do was fill it up with herbs, oils, molds and stuff from my trade...oh well, when life says you can't go that way, you take another path...plain and simple...so I don't have my shop yet, but I hope that in the near future I can add a different type of building that the city will not object too, but that is later on...

Gardening and being outdoors is very important to me, I love spring the most, with fall a very hot and close second...all the seasons are loved by me, if you say we have seasons in Texas, and Texans know what I mean by that?  Well, I love growing herbs, digging in the earth, and watching things grow, I am a very simple outdoorsy type person...hopefully easy to know and with a lot to share....

I would love to share my craft with you...I truly hope you enjoy using my gifts from nature...and if at anytime you wish to shoot me an email on any subject, please do, I am around, unless my Internet goes out on me for a day or two, and it does tend to do that, being out in the country, you make due with what services you get, I think the trade off is worth it though...so if you don't hear from me right away, it wasn't because I didn't want to get back with you, it could mean the Internet is not working...I will make every attempt to answer each and every email I receive...and always with honesty and friendliness...
